There is no such thing as a ‘standard’ eye test. As everybody’s eyes are different, so too are their eye tests.
At Specsavers, we believe everyone should have their eyes tested at least every two years.
What To Expect From An Eye Test
We are focused on caring for your eyes and giving you the best possible vision. We want you to see clearly and feel confident in your eyewear and tailor the experience to meet your specific visual needs. An average eye examination takes around 20 minutes but for some people it can take longer.
1. Before you see the optometrist
We'll confirm all your details and take a number of preliminary measurements and scans to give the optometrist more information about your eyes, these include:
2. Consultation with your optometrist
Discussion with your optometrist to understand the reason for your visit and your visual needs
Analysis of your current eyewear
Measurement of your vision
Prescribing glasses for your specific visual needs
Assessment of the health of your eyes - screening for eye conditions such as macula degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, glaucoma and cataract
Showing and explaining your digital retinal photographs
Making recommendations specific to your visual needs
3. After you see your optometrist
Once you have had your eyes tested and have a prescription if you decide to choose glasses rather than contact lenses, the next step is to ensure your glasses are a perfect fit. We will help you choose the right styles to suit your face and also use the latest technology to take precise measurements to ensure that your glasses fit properly after the eye test.
The whole process should take between 40-60 mins depending on your requirements.
