Christina Hendricks and Specsavers search for the 2012 Spectacle Wearer of the Year

10 August, 2012

The 2012 Specsavers Spectacle Wearer of the Year competition, now in its third year in Australia, is underway to find Australia's best framed fashionistas - with style icon and proud spec-wearer, Christina Hendricks from Mad Men, leading the charge.

The Specsavers competition celebrates the individual beauty and confidence of those who wear glasses. Everyone who loves glasses and enjoys wearing them with style and confidence, whether you need them or just wear them as a fashion accessory, is encouraged to enter for their chance to be crowned Australia’s most stylish spec wearer for 2012.

Ms Hendricks said, "I'm really excited to be in Australia and to be a part of the Specsavers Spectacle Wearer of the Year competition. It's a great initiative that encourages people to be proud and confident of wearing their glasses."

"Personally, I love to wear glasses and experiment with different shapes, colours and styles. I even wear specs when I’m on the red carpet! Glasses are a great fashion accessory that can either complement my outfit or be a statement piece."

Ms Hendricks continued, "The Specsavers Spectacle Wearer of the Year competition provides a great opportunity for talented and gorgeous specs wearers to catch the eye of the modelling industry, and could help to fast-track their way to a successful career."

As well as judging the Specsavers competition, Ms Hendricks will personally mentor this year's winner at a photo shoot in Los Angeles.

Head of Style Communications and Development at Specsavers, Pernilla Algede, said, "We're delighted to welcome Ms Hendricks as part of the 2012 Specsavers Spectacle Wearer of the Year competition. Ms Hendricks is renowned for her timeless fashion sense, grace and style; she is a wonderful role model for spec wearers and the perfect ambassador for Specsavers."

The winner of Specsavers Spectacle Wearer of the Year will receive a trip to Los Angeles and a 12 month modelling contract with SCOOP Model Management. The competition provides a great opportunity for gorgeous specs wearers to catch the eye of the modelling industry, and could help to fast-track their way to a successful career. The winner and finalists will each receive cash prizes as well as hair and makeup products from Wella and NP Set.

The competition is open to men and women aged 18 and over, who are either current specs wearers or wear glasses for fashion purposes. Entries are now open until Friday 25 January, 2013. Applicants should register online at www.facebook.com/SpecsaversAustralia.
