Reading glasses

Reading glasses

What are reading glasses?

Trouble with the small print? Reading glasses are designed to reduce eye strain and make it easier to read by magnifying text on pages or devices. From single-vision lenses for close up viewing to tailored prescriptions lenses for viewing at different distances, we’ll help you buy the right reading glasses for your needs.

Reading vs prescription glasses

Reading glasses offer the same prescription in both eyes to assist with reading but are not designed to correct vision problems, or to be worn long term.

Prescription glasses can help you see both close up and far away, with lenses tailored to your needs. Because most people need different prescriptions in both eyes, you’ll need an eye test to determine yours.

Types of reading glasses

Reading glasses

A one-size-fits-all solution, reading glasses use single-vision lenses to make it more comfortable to see things close up, but they won’t help you to see long distance.

Multifocal lenses

Also called progressive lenses, multifocal lenses allow you to see at different distances. They have different sections for viewing close up, far away and anywhere inbetween.

Blue light glasses

We can add blue light filters to your reading glasses, but if you’re concerned about the effects of blue light from using digital devices, take a look at these suggestions to reduce eye strain first.

How to choose reading glasses

Once you have your prescription, our complete glasses buyer’s guide will help you find a pair to suit your needs, style and budget.
