Polycarbonate lenses are made by injection moulding. They have good impact resistance and are therefore ideal for children, sports and industrial purposes. Polycarbonate material has good UV protection and a higher refractive index than standard plastic.Polycarbonate lenses do however have a poorer abrasion resistance than standard plastic, so a scratch resistant coating is imperative. They can also not be tinted easily.
